Across Laikipia, Kitui and West Pokot counties, families and communities are rethinking how care is recognised, shared and supported.
Through the Care Economy Project, implemented with support from UN Kenya through UN Women and funded by the Gates Foundation, communities are showing how practical changes can improve daily life. These include sharing household responsibilities, expanding childcare support and strengthening support for caregivers, including caregivers with disabilities.
The documentary follows personal stories of families, caregivers and communities working to reduce the unequal burden of unpaid care work, especially on women and girls.
By making care more visible and better supported, the project is helping strengthen families, improve inclusion and build communities where everyone can participate more fully.
