UN Kenya Common Country Analysis Report for Kenya 2025 Update
The UN Kenya Common Country Analysis (CCA) 2025 Update is the United Nations' assessment of Kenya’s development context and trajectory. It brings together evidence on economic, social and environmental trends, highlighting progress and persistent gaps across prosperity, people, planet, peace and partnerships. The analysis shows that while Kenya has sustained steady economic growth, the gains remain uneven. Poverty, inequality and regional disparities persist, especially in arid and semi-arid counties. Gender gaps continue to limit women’s full participation. Climate shocks, including recurring droughts and floods, intensify existing vulnerabilities. The CCA also reviews national priorities such as the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda and shows how they shape Kenya’s development direction.
The review provides a clear picture of who is being left behind and why. It identifies groups facing discrimination, exposure to shocks, barriers in governance and limited access to basic services. Ten counties remain most at risk, including Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Turkana and West Pokot. The CCA also examines Kenya’s commitments under global norms, the financing landscape, and the risks that could slow progress towards the 2030 Agenda. It serves as the evidence base for the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, guiding how the UN system supports Kenya to accelerate equitable development and strengthen resilience as the SDG countdown intensifies.
