Doreen was struggling to find work in Kenya. Through the Pro Agro youth programme, she received practical, industry-specific training and was placed as an intern at a dairy. Today, she works there full time as a quality controller.
Implemented with support from UN Kenya through IFAD, and funded by IFAD, BMZ and the Visa Foundation, the programme supports rural young people through vocational training, business development and job placement.
Working with commercial agribusiness companies, Pro Agro Youth Agribusiness Hubs help young women and men gain skills, access internships and move into decent work. Across nine countries, the hubs have supported 42,000 young people to find employment and enterprise opportunities.
Doreen’s story shows how targeted training, private sector placement and rural youth investment can open practical pathways from unemployment to dignified work.
